Rope Courses or Climbing Wall?
Rope Courses can be Challenging and Fun Rope courses have been around for decades but only recently are people becoming aware of what these really are and how they can benefit from participation in this type of activity. Many people might think that swinging from platform to platform using ropes is a bit animalistic, and to an extent, they’d be right. But there’s no denying the fact that today, it’s not unusual to find waiting lists full of individuals anxiously awaiting their rope courses adventures. Participants actually do more than swing from one destination to the next. High rope courses are intricately designed systems of ropes for swinging and for climbing, poles and logs, climbing walls, bridges and other elements. They’re similar to obstacle courses, and in many ways, rope courses are just that. Participants wear helmets and harnesses and, using more rope, they attach themselves to pulley systems that help them traverse the course. For those who prefer ground level, there’s also what’s called low rope courses. They’re not as high, but they’re just as challenging. Rope courses are a lot of fun and they’re a great way to spend the day but they’re designed to offer much more. It’s a team-oriented activity, so participants actually learn valuable life skills including leadership, goal setting, problem solving, and communication skills. By meeting the challenges of rope courses head on they’re able to build their self-esteem, their self-confidence and their ability to trust others.
